The Jewel Foundation presents the 1st Annual Jewel Theatre Junteeth Film Festival! This event is FREE for everyone and will showcase 15 plus vendors including FOOD TRUCKS!!! The event is set to kick off the fundraising campaign of the historic Jewel Theatre that was built in the 1930's on the historic 4th street in Oklahoma city for the black community as they were not allowed in all white theaters.

904 N.E. 4th st. Oklahoma City, Ok 73104
5PM to 8PM
FREE TO THE PUBLIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jewel Foundation board of directors looks to showcase an array of local black culture and talent with this event. Everything from black owned local vendors, to black movie directors, black actors, black political s...peakers, black local music artist, black local activists, black local food, and so much more. ALL RACES ARE WELCOME ATTEND!

There will be live outdoor movie screenings from local directors, helping to bring a nostalgia back from our past as these will be some of the first films to be shown on this historic landmass since the 1960's when it closed. Local artist perfomances from Original Flow, Fresh, J Sparxx, and Odessa I Reign will also bring some exciting vibes.

We will also have guest speakers to talk to our community about many subjects regarding arts culture and our community. Candace Liger with the Abstract Ebon Collective is a powerful and hard working activist in OKC and she will be bringing some powerful energy to the event. Councilman John Pettis of Ward 7 will also bring some great messages to the community. We will also have Representative George Young of District 99 as well!

Local filmmakers Charlie C.J. Skinner of Passsion Projects, Julian D. Jackson of 21 Elementz, and Samuel C. Bey, Board Member, of Pure Films will showcase 3 films in a amazing outdoor setting right outside of the Jewel Theatre.

The festivities will kick off right on the tail end of the Juneteenth festivities at Washington Park. The Jewel Theatre is located 1 block north on the same 4th st. as Washington Park. So all you have to do is walk over and enjoy the show.
