The Douglass High School Creed

I believe in Douglass High School and the things for which it stands; Health in mind and body, service to others and to myself, social adjustment, economic security and reverence for the spiritual.

I believe in achievement and will continuously strive to accomplish what I set out to do.

I believe in loyalty to our school and its traditions.

I pledge upon my honor to help in all its undertakings; in all that makes it a stronger and nobler school.

And I promise to do all in my power to become a student to match its ideals.

"The Trojan Song"

We will forever love dear old Douglass,
For dear old Douglass we will be true.
For her in every way we will fight today.
We will fight, fight, fight, Hooray!

In battle strong see the Trojans marching.
For we will carry our banner to the sky.
For we all are Trojans marching on to battle,
For we are marching on to Victory.
Rah! Rah! Rah!

Cheer for dear old Douglass,
Cheer for her today.
Proud and gay are we,
March to Victory.
Rah! Rah! Rah!

Cheer for dear old Douglass,
Cheer for her today.
Marching on to Victory
in the the Trojan Way!
Rah! Rah!

A special request from Douglass Fine Arts Dance Director Maria Ann Krey Gibson:

I am hoping to have 2-3 volunteers come to my 7th hour class (1:30-2:35pm) once a month to talk about their experience at Frederick A. Douglass High School. I would love for my students to hear stories about bussing, the wonderful things that happened in the 125 years of history of Douglass, and why education was and is so valuable. My hope is that these volunteers will inspire the students to honor the efforts of those who came before them so that they can see the importance in their own…See More

OKLAHOMA CITY - The local school board approved a compromise Monday, expanding charter schools without mandating the KIPP program share space with neighborhood schools.

Under the approved agreement, KIPP Reach Charter Preparatory will move from F.D. Moon Elementary to Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary in the coming…

KIPP OKC finances, data belie ‘credibility of its promises’

By John Thompson - June 18, 2016

There are two big questions in regard to the KIPP plan for taking over the Martin Luther King Elementary School building. I’ve focused on the first issue of whether it would be possible for KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) to provide high-quality pre-kindergarten and elementary education for an entire neighborhood. Since Oklahoma City’s KIPP has never attempted such a task, the organization should have been willing to answer some…

The students were nudged to take action after a classroom discussion about the Civil Rights Movement. The students collectively decided to shed some light on what they feel their school is lacking, and how it is directly affecting their…

Calling All Trojans! Calling all Trojans!

Please contact the OKCPS Athletic Director Keith Sinor at 405 587-0049 and let

him know we want our old scoreboard back. Due to budget cuts the stadium and

field names will not added to the board that was installed by OKCPS. We understand

that and are asking that our old scoreboard that listed the stadium and field names,

that was in good working order be brought back and installed on the football field.
